Who is Donna Starr?
I am an enthusiastic traveler and have been sketching and playing with color since childhood. My first paid “job” was working at an ice cream shop, creating amazing artistic masterpieces in cake decoration. (They all eventually melted or were eaten, so you’ll have to take my word for it – they were FABULOUS!) My five minutes of fame was when I served ice cream to Muhammad Ali and his entourage. He is a BIG man – he ordered strawberry – boring! Anyway, I think my hourly pay was around $1.14/hr.! Oh, the starving artist’s life…
Since that time, I have studied fine arts at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Northern Illinois University, the University of Colorado, the Loveland Art Academy and at the Denver Botanical Gardens Fine Arts program. I’ve also had the privilege and pleasure of studying with many amazing artists worldwide. I’m always on the lookout for an interesting workshop in an especially charming location.
I’ve just finished writing a book Cuba for Mama: A Daughter´s Journey about my adventures in Cuba in 2016, look for it on Amazon in print and Kindle versions.
My passion is exploring the planet and connecting with people through laughter and language. I delight in sharing my enthusiasm for life, nature, and of course – creativity!
